Above, looking east at the TS Power Plant in November 2007, during the startup phase. The plant was named for Newmont's TS Ranch, on which it was located, a few miles north of Interstate 80 and 50 miles west of Elko, Nevada. The Babcock & Wilcox boiler is inside the tall portion of the main structure; to its right is the wet scrubber and baghouse facilities with which I was also involved. The successful first fire was on 19 November 2007 (Elko Daily Free Press article). The first full-load operation was achieved in February 2008, and final testing and acceptance was completed a few months later.
