Newmont TS Power Plant
Above, looking east at the TS Power Plant in November 2007, during the startup phase. The plant was named for Newmont's TS Ranch, on which it was located, a few miles north of Interstate 80 and 50 miles west of Elko, Nevada. The Babcock & Wilcox boiler is inside the tall portion of the main structure; to its right is the wet scrubber and baghouse facilities with which I was also involved. The successful first fire was on 19 November 2007 (Elko Daily Free Press article). The first full-load operation was achieved in February 2008, and final testing and acceptance was completed a few months later. Here's an October 2008 Power magazine article, and the Fluor project page.
