Versions of this photo appeared in various publications including the DF II Navy cruisebook and the March 1975 Antarctic Journal. This photo was provided to me by photographer Maurice Cutler, the United Press reporter aboard the Globemaster, but we have now concluded that it was probably not his photo, but rather a crop from a much larger color photo by Navy Public Information Officer LTJG Les Halsema. The color photo appeared in the July 1957 National Geographic. Les was sitting at the adjacent window to Maurice Cutler.
